Our Love for Crew

Both of the girls have an abnormal love for their cousin, Crew. They love Canon, too, of course, but Crew has stolen their hearts, especially Sophie's. Everytime she sees him, she does this hilarious dance where she stomps her feet up and down really fast and says his name over and over and over. Both girls also enjoy wrestling, hugging, and kissing on him. He's such a sweet natured, easy going kid that he lets them do whatever they want to him (which also may be why they love him so much). Here is a video showing just a tiny bit of Sophie's obsession.

Life in the Nevels House

I realized it's been awhile since I've talked about what's going on in our house. I used to be so good about monthly updates with the girls, but what can I say? They're busy and I'm pregnant and exhausted most days. The girls are doing/saying tons right now, and like every other age they've been, I can wholeheartedly say this one is by far my favorite (and did I mention most exhausting?). Here's a quick summary of some of my favorite things they're doing and saying right now:

-Both girls refer to the other one as "sister" or some version of that word. They like to point at the other when they say it, and Sophie especially likes saying it as soon as I hoist both girls up out of their cribs in the mornings. It's like she's realized how much she's missed being away from her all night.
-Sophie is my little chatter box. Campbell has lots of words she likes saying, too, but we refer to Sophie as our little parrot, trying to repeat almost everything we say. Some of her (and CJ's) favorite words to say right now are, in no particular order: mama, dada, bubba, gigi, nana, papa, "pammi" (sammi), sawa (sara), Teddy, paci, blankie, monkey, cracker, cookie, milk, "wawa" (water), "nana" (banana), "Owe!" (when they bonk their head on something, which is often), Uh-oh, Whoa!, No (oh how this is fun), dog, "poon" (spoon), duck. They can also tell you what a duck says ("cack cack"), and point to their nose, eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, belly and toes when you ask them. We are starting to think Sophie has a foot fetish as she points out "toes" on everything/person/animal in all the books we read. Hilarious. They've both also started curiously pointing at their female anatomy on the upper half of their bodies lately. Following in the wise words of Dr. Laura Berman (Oprah's resident sex therapist), we have been working on the word for that, too! Kyle was mad at me for teaching it to them, but hey, we gotta learn it someday.
-The girls have also developed a deep, deep love affair for Dora the Explorer. Campbell even has a special dance she does for the "We did it" song they sing at the end.
-Campbell has also recently discovered she knows how to walk backwards which she thinks is hilarious (and so do we).
-Both girls continue to love to tackle and wrestle with each other. They also run to the bathroom when we tell them it's bathtime, think it's hilarious to run away when we mention the words "diaper" or "get dressed", and stand next to their highchairs when they're hungry. It's really starting to feel like a whole new world with these little people who are starting to be able to tell us certain things they want!

Ornery girl, Sophie

Trying out our new swingset! To say the girls are obsessed with their swingset is an understatement. At least once a day they run to the back door and start yelling either "wing" (swing) or "side" (outside). And the word "swing" has officially become the first word Kyle and I have to spell out instead of say out loud unless we are prepared to spend at least 20 minutes in the backyard.

Admittedly, I have been horrible at taking pictures lately. It seems impossible to get them to hold still for a pic, or they insist upon grabbing at my camera and throwing fits when they can't have it. They are officially full fledge toddlers and they give me a run for my money on a daily basis.

Kyle and I are also preparing to leave the girls for the first time (gulp) tomorrow for 2 nights. Vegas baby! Not sure how much fun it's going to be for me being preggo, but I'm determined to make the best of it (shows, shopping, spa day) and try my best to enjoy a much needed vacation before baby number 3 arrives (who knows when the next vacation will be?!). My sweet and brave in-laws have offered to watch the girls both nights. Hoping and praying everything goes smoothly and Kyle and I come home feeling refreshed. :)

xoxo and Happy Leap Day!

Baby Boy

Ever since finding out we are going to have a little man, my mind has started spinning on how we are going to decorate his room. Because, you know, it's probably one of the most important things that needs to be done before he gets here. :) Also, I need to figure out how I'm going to take care of 3 children under the age of 2, which seems like a much more daunting task. So for now I'll stick to fun things like bedding, curtains, and wall decor.
Along with any important decorating decision comes many hours spent on pinterest, blogs, and google. I have a rough idea of what I'm thinking about for his room. Since it will also still be doubling as our guest room (we have relatives that live several hours away so it's crucial we have a bed for them), I don't want it to be too "babyish" and keep it fairly neutral with some fun, boyish accents. Here are a few items on my must-have list.

The crib. Yes, we will officially own three cribs by the time baby boy gets here. This one is pretty cheap, like the girls cribs were and we will be purchasing from Target.

This cute little guy is from etsy. :)

I really am excited about this. I love the faux animal head look. This one is from Z Gallerie, and I can't wait to get it!

Found this print from etsy, as well. So boyish and I love the colors.

And this would be my first official purchase for his room! I knew I wanted to incorporate chevron somehow, so we will be using this print for curtains. I found the fabric HERE for around $7/yard!

I'm also pining for some fabric for his bedding from THIS website/designer. There are too many cute prints to choose from! I'm not too big on "themes" for rooms, but I guess if it had a theme it would be vintage, forest animal theme.

And, yes, for now he is still referred to as baby boy. Kyle and I are having quite the dispute when it comes to baby names. I have one I'm really pushing for, and I think he's coming around. Any ideas on how to bribe talk your husband into liking a name? ;)

It's a....

BOY!

It still looks so strange to type that, and to think that I will have a son. I know millions of people every day have sons and daughters, but for some reason, I just could not see myself having anything other than girls! Although I had a "feeling" from the beginning it was a boy (I had the same "feeling" I was having twin girls, too), I kept saying all day that I would be shocked to see blue. And shocked I was indeed! However, amongst my family and most of my friends, it seems I was the only one to be shocked. Everyone seemed to think I was having a boy. My friend, Katie, informed me from the beginning that it was most definitely a boy according to her Chinese calendar (which she swears has only been wrong twice in 10 years), Kyle has called it "baby brother" all along, and my mother in law was so confident as to only bring a boy gift. Man, I certainly have some perceptive people around me! I knew I always had a place in my heart for a boy ever since meeting and falling in love with my sweet nephew, Canon, 3 years ago, but it's still sinking in that we will have a new little man welcomed into our family this July. Kyle and I agree that we feel so incredibly blessed and our family will truly be complete once he enters our lives. I never thought I was one to have the patience to do a "gender reveal party" (and let's be honest, they are super cheesy!), but I saw this cute idea and decided since it will (hopefully) be our last, we should do something fun (and cheesy). I'm so glad we decided to do this. It was unbelievably fun to find out with our families and surprisingly emotional for me. I definitely teared up watching those blue balloons fly up into the sky thinking how lucky we were to get our two sweet girls and now a little boy. And I know Kyle instantly envisioned his future of baseball games, fishing trips, and all the special things he'll get to experience with a son.

So here are a few pics of our special evening...

The bump at 18 weeks and 2 days.

Gigi was thinking boy...

...and Daddy and CJ...

...and Papa and Sophie...

...and Sam and D...

...and Nana...are we seeing a trend? Canon also insisted it was a boy and that we should name him Mickey Mouse. :)

The girls both agreed they wanted a little brother to boss around

The final tally. Sara, myself, and Bubba were the only ones leaning more towards girl.

Cutting the tape...

They're BLUE!!

This pic truly captures our immediate reactions! Love the smile on Kyle's face.

High five

Little boy stuff from Nana

All the boy goodies! My mom brought a girl and boy outfit. Aunt Sara also brought over a little blue lovey later that evening for our little guy.

And I had to include some fun pics from earlier that day. This is Kyle at our doctor's appointment wearing a blue sweater...

...and blue socks for "good vibes"

The envelope that had the proof! Can't believe I had this for almost 2 hours before taking it to my mom's sweet friend who filled the box for us. It was SO hard not to peak!

We are beyond thrilled to meet this little man. And another thanks to all of you who have sent sweet messages and phone calls of congratulations. It has been wonderful sharing it with you all.

Fortune Cookies

For awhile now I've been somewhat superstitious about fortune cookies. I had one in college that turned out to be pretty accurate, and ever since then I've found them to have a fun, special meaning. Which isn't hard since most of them are very broad generalization fortunes. I crave lo mein noodles like crazy when I'm pregnant, so needless to say I've read a few fortunes lately. I found my most recent one from the other night to be pretty accurate and quite humorous...

How did it know?!

I think our little one will hopefully be a lot cuter than an alien.

Less than a week until we find out what our little extra terrestrial is!

:)
