kiss the cook(s)

The only thing cuter than a cute ladies apron is a cute kid's apron. I just love these two from Anthropologie. It might be planning neurotically too far ahead to order these now, but I'm oh-so-tempted to get some for the girls! :)

front porches

I guess with the summer heat comes lots of daydreaming about our future front porch and back patio in our new home. I love well put-together front porches and patios. I think it's easy to sometimes overlook these parts of a home; especially when you forget that a front porch is the first thing a visitor sees when coming to your home. I get very easily overwhelmed when it comes to decorating this area. Probably because I get very easily overwhelmed when it comes to potted plants/flowers. It seems that most front porches/patios are either "over" decorated and tend to look cluttered or crowded or they are too barren as if the owner forgot they were supposed to decorate this area of the home. I've been brainstorming ideas mostly for my front porch.

I have loved this bench from grandinroad for awhile now. They have it in an aged black that I like, too.

I really like the ferns on this porch. What I really love are the pillows on the chairs. One of them has the address monogrammed on them and the other has the last name of the family. I would love to get 2 pillows like this to put on the above bench.

These are just 2 more that I found. I like the natural stone color of them.

my sweet girls

It is with great excitement that I announce our little twins are officially GIRLS! Although I knew in my heart of hearts these little ones were both girls, it was officially confirmed through ultrasound yesterday. I think Kyle is warming up to the idea that he is not getting his boy (for now). My heart kinda broke for him yesterday because he was so set on the idea that they were boy/girl twins. However, I can't help but think these sweet girls are going to just make him fall head over heels for them once they arrive. I'm also very thankful he has, surprisingly, a lot of guy friends who have girls and absolutely adore them.
We were also thrilled to see how healthy and great they looked on the ultrasound. The doctor said they looked "gorgeous" {I could have told you that :)} and were developing perfectly. The greatest words I could have heard. We even got to copy their movements and heartbeats onto a DVD. I knew this was dangerous when they told us they could do that because I feared all I would want to do is sit and watch them all day (I've only watched it twice so far). Baby A was very photogenic, so we got a lot of great profile shots of her and even got to see her trying to suck her thumb! Baby B was a little less photogenic due to her position, but we still got some great shots. I will have to post these pics later on.
For now, I will leave you with this comical picture below. This is what happens when a Ball girl finds out she is having twin girls and takes her sisters shopping immediately afterwards. I can't wait to put them in all of these precious outfits!

Colorado Bliss

This past week, Kyle and I were fortunate enough to be able to go on a pretty much "free" vacation to Vail, CO courtesy of Chesapeake. It was a wonderfully relaxing vacation with delightfully cooler temperatures. There are not too many things more beautiful than Colorado in the summertime. The days were extremely chill, and at night we were treated to delicious dinners by Kyle's fun Louisiana brokers. Southern folks sure know how to have a good time! I don't think we escaped from a single dinner in under 3 hours. Even though I couldn't fully indugle in the many bottles of wine, it was a lot of fun. We most definitely soaked up every second of it considering it will probably be the last real vacation we go on before these sweet little ones decide to join us. We were even planning our next vacation after the babies get here (Mexico, Tahoe, Napa Valley...) I think it made us both realize how great it was to spend so much time together, just the two of us. Even though we have relatively few distractions while we are in Edmond (yes, this will change drastically soon enough), I think we just tend to get into a rut of everyday life and forget how much we really do like being with each other. These were a few highlights of our "babymoon" (I think this is what people call the last vacation before a baby gets here?) On top of the mountain after our gondola ride. This was probably one of my favorite things we did together. This place we are standing also had stone benches stadium-style in front of us. We found out from some other people up there that they use this spot for weddings. Can you imagine getting married and looking out into that view?!

Belly pic with a breathtaking background! I really wish my iphone camera could have truly captured the beauty of this view.

On our way up the mountain via gondola.

My hunky husband and I by the pool. Gosh I love laying out in fleeces so much more than a swimsuit right now. Did I mention how much this vacation catered to a pregnant girl?

This was my spot every morning until about noon. After breakfast I would sit out on our balcony, sip coffee, and read in the sun. Our resort was by far the most luxurious place I have ever stayed. We found out a few days into our trip that the Arabelle was ranked the 2nd best ski resort in the country last year! In the wintertime you can ski down the mountain right into the resort. Maybe in another life we could afford to come back here in the winter. :)

Baby A and Baby B

Aren't they sweet? :)

Sweet Dreams

I'm continually amazed at some of the absolutely adorable nurseries I see. These are 2 of my favorites currently. I think what I'm really loving are all of the neutral colors, and adorable patterns. The more I look at nurseries, the more I realize that, regardless of boys, girls, or one of each, I really want a pretty gender neutral nursery. So this begs the question, should we really find out? Part of me thinks this would be incredibly fun
to not find out. Another part of me wants to find out simply because I feel like it will make it all more real, and I can start to imagine what their little faces will look like.
We also pretty much have names picked out for any potential scenario, so that would already be taken care of.
Regardless, I can't wait to meet little Luke, Leo, Sophie, or Camden. :)

crib confusion

Delta (non-drop side)

Da Vinci (drop side)

Ok, I am currently loving the Jenny Lind white crib. I have found 2 from 2 different brands. One is Delta, one is Da Vinci. There is about an $80 difference in price, and the Delta is a non-drop side crib, while the Da Vinci is a drop-side crib and therefore more expensive. I am wanting advice from anyone who has bought a crib. What is the difference between a non-drop side and drop side crib? Which would you recommend or does it matter?

The great debate

(striped pillow out of this set)

Ok, so our current bedding is on the bottom. We only have the duvet and euro shams from this set. I have never really been pleased with the euro shams. I do like our duvet, but I think it needs some spicing up. I would love to replace the euro shams with one of the above 2 options. I really like the look of "eclectic" bedding, so I don't want things to be too matchy-matchy. I have always greatly envied people who can mix patterns and colors well. I feel like my attempts usually end up looking like a blind person put it together. I'm leaning toward the top option for both price and color. My throw pillows on my bed are ivory colored. I would also love to get a cozy throw to put on the end of the bed, as well. I would love someone else's input!

cute and summery

Aaah...I am loving this adorable dress from Anthropologie (what's NOT to love about EVERYTHING in this store?) I thought this one was particularly darling. If my belly weren't growing at an incredible rate, I would consider greatly angering my husband and order it. :)

Speaking of my dear husband and pretty white dresses, we just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday! I'm truly amazed at how fun and amazing marriage has been. I'm incredibly blessed to spend every day with this man, and I can only imagine what fun the future holds. I hope I am still finding the little things that make me fall even more in love with him 50 years from now. I'm also unbelievably excited to see him be a daddy. I love watching him with our niece and nephews and other little kids, so I can only imagine how wonderful it will be to see him with our own. Two seems to be the magic number for us this year, and I can truly say that we are TWICE blessed. :)

Twinspiration

Ok, so the above pic I couldn't help but share because it is so stinkin' cute. I will be ordering these absolutely precious "munchkin" hats for my little ones to take darling pictures like this one. And to just put on them for my own amusement. I just want to kiss those sweet little faces! I still don't think it has truly hit me that I will have 4 sweet cheeks instead of 2 to smooch on.

And this is the new book I am very much looking forward to receiving in the mail. Let me just tell you that there are quite a large amount of "twin/multiple" books to choose from on Amazon. So how did I pick this one, you ask? It had the cutest cover and looked the least cheezy. Good strategy, I know. But it does advertise itself well on the cover since I DO need real-life advice from pregnancy through the first year...and beyond. And I suppose that books will have to do until I make more mommies-of-twins friends.
Speaking of....the current issue I am debating is whether or not to join the Moms of Multiples club of Edmond. Here is why I'm hesitant. I get extremely annoyed being around any person who is a know-it-all. And for some reason, I have seen many a normal person turn into a complete and total know-it-all, dispensing unwanted and un-asked-for parenting advice once they become a mom. It makes my skin crawl thinking about it. I can only imagine that moms of twins are twice as annoying (ie. "This is the only way to do this", "Well I do it this way because this is the best thing for my baby", "You have to have this toy/device/bottle, etc.", "Well so-and-so did it this way, and her baby is not as advanced as my baby", blah blah blah) You get the point, and I'm sure have all come in contact with a similar individual. Not that I don't want advice, because I do. And believe me I will ask you if you I want it. I just hope when it comes time for me to actually be a mommy that I am more like some moms I know, and less like others.
Ok, I'm done ranting. And somehow got horribly off topic. Multiples club. So I really want to join because I truly do want all the information I can get my hands on. The good, bad, and annoying. So that when it comes time to actually take care of these 2 little ones, I will have a variety of options to look at. I suppose I can always disappear if I find myself surrounded by mothers-of-twins monsters. What do you think?

My little birdies

Ok, I found this adorable plate on etsy and while I realize it's probably meant for newlyweds or a couple, I couldn't help but think it would be cute with my twins' names on it and their birthday. I would love to hang it in the nursery. Ironically, this could actually be their birthday! Sign? I think so.
