A Day at the Park

This past Saturday, the Nevels family had a fun little afternoon at Mitch park, swinging, sliding, walking, and enjoying the crisp fall weather. Gosh I wish this time of year never had to end!

Always sharing a swing. :)

Why does that kid get a swing all to himself?

Yay! My very own swing!

Chilly Weather Food

Well it only took until nearly November for Oklahoma to finally reach truly fall temperatures. Yahoo! With the chilly forecast for this next week, I'm excited to whip up this new stew recipe in the CP while wearing warm slippers and a fleece. I'm a little embarassed to admit that I've never made a stew before. I think I've made just about everything else in the crockpot but stew. I think it's because like most little kids, I was never a fan of eating meat mixed with broth and vegetables. But now that I'm a mature adult, I think I'm ready to truly savor its deliciousness. My mom would be proud (just don't tell her I'm not using her stew recipe). ;)

Recipe found here.

P.S. It calls for a little bit of balsamic vinegar. Mmmm.....

Blanket Head

One thing I've loved about watching the girls grow up is watching them both develop their own little "quirks." I love hearing about my nephews' and friends' kids little idiosyncrasies. Whether it's always sleeping in a certain position, a crazy attachment to a weird toy, or laughing a certain way, I think one of the reasons we all love our kids so much is because they all do things that are so uniquely their own. My nephew, Canon, unintentionally became attached to a zebra print throw blanket of Sara's now referred to as "night night", my friend Ashley's little girl almost always sits with her legs crossed, and my eldest daughter, Campbell, has a crazy obsession with her blanket...on her head. Both of my girls squeal with delight anytime we hand them their blankies, but Campbell nearly always will plop it on top of her head. It's ridiculously cute and hilarious at the same time. She has done this since she was 4 or 5 months old. At first we thought it was nothing, but as she grew older, the obsession with having her blankie, burp cloth, whatever soft thing she could find, on her head continued. Whenever she wakes up in the morning or from a nap, we almost always walk into her room where she is sitting or standing patiently in her crib, blankie on head. I love it so much and I hope she never stops doing it. These are a few pictures to show her little quirk. One was taken very recently, the other around 7 months.

I'd love to hear about your kiddos' quirks! :)

And a post coming soon on Miss Sophie's obsession...

The Birthday Party

Here are a few pics from the girls first birthday party. In short, it was a crazy, chaotic, insanely fun day. We so very much enjoyed filling our home with our dearest friends and family, and I think the girls did too. :)

P.S. Sorry for picture overload!

YUM

Their cakes pretty much sum up how different their personalities are. Campbell, nice and neat. Sophie, a complete mess!

Why are all of these people watching me eat?

Can't get enough

Where has this been my whole life?

We survived our first birthday party. Good thing we have a year to recover! :)
